clue words for each tense

She writes poems occasionally.  .simple present .
She is writing now.  present continuous
She has already written.  .present perfect
She has been writing since morning..present perfect continuous
She wrote poems occasionally. simple past.
She was writing then. .past continuous
She had  written. .past perfect
She had been writing since morning.. past perfect continuous
She will write poems when she grows up . .simple future.
She will be writing when you reach there .... .future continuous
She will have  written a book  within a few months  .future perfect
She will have been writing for many years, when she finishes the book.  . future perfect continuous

simple present  ( She always writes in Kannada)

present continuous(  She is writing a letter at present.....)
at the moment, right now, just, now, at present, currently, Look! 

present perfect ( She has already  written the letter.)
since, for, already, yet, before, ever, never, still not, so far, just, up to now, recently, until now

present perfect continuous ( She has been writing since morning.)
since / for +     present action + continuity

simple PAST ( She always wrote in Kannada)

last month , last year,yesterday,in 2001 ,two days ago, 3 years ago, a few hours ago,always,etc.. in past point of time.

PAST continuous(  She was writing a letter when I visited her.)

.to denote an action going on  followed by ........when + a simple past clause.
   before clauses beginning with  while /  when /  as long as

PAST perfect ( She had already  written the letter , when I called her on phone.)

to denote an action completed  followed by ........when + a simple past clause.



already, yet, before, ever, never, still not, so far, just, up to that time, recently, until then

PAST perfect continuous ( She had been writing for 9 months when we reached there.)
to denote an action was in progress and   was going to be completed  followed by ........when + a simple past clause.

simple FUTURE  ( She will write to them next month)
tomorrow,next day,next year, 
FUTURE continuous(  She will be writing the  letter when you reach there)
..before clauses like when you do it ,when you reach there
(when,after,as soon as ,next week ,all day long,as you reach there,at this time tomorrow.

FUTURE perfect ( She will have    written the letter within a few hours.)
within a few months / within a few years / within a few days / by next January/ by 2020 /by the time you do / go

FUTURE perfect continuous ( She will have been writing for 30 years by the time she publishes her 5 th book)

....by the time she finishes her job,when he retires.,for many years,for many days,for 5 minutes
